I got back to camp after setting out two more sets of S about 10 o'clock and went out shortly down the road I skated the road on top of the steep hill or rather just before and went to the top of the fall where I shot at and missed a fairly long hawk and from there I went went straight down to the meeting The road where it make the hairpin turn I did not see anything until I had gotten back to the place where I skated it and then I shot a gray warbler, a and a oratorica. I got back to camp sometime after eleven and it shortly came on to rain raining quite hard off and on for the rest of the day and night. It took me the rest of the day to clean out two of the nets and partly finish scaling the Megani (Meropini?) as he is called by the Motuans and local white. March 10, 1935 The weather to day so far has been dull with the sky practically entirely overcast. It started to spitch when I was visiting early trap but I did not amount to anything. One trap in set No. 4, 5 & 7 loose strong and pulled out at 7 there were some Centrifuge feathers. At seven eight I got a rat of 32 same species. After supper was finished. After supper I went down the road shooting. I shot a frog mouth out of a tree just below camp. I did not see anything further until I went past the hairpin bend where I shot out of a Umbrella two a Petaurus his eyes shone rather well out of some as well as its right paw and I then turned back and was about half way up the hill when I shot at and missed a night hawk. March 11, 1935 The weather was the same as yesterday. I took the anemoid along and found the altitude of the various site as follows camp set at 460. 1- — 4 - 490 16 - 580 2- — 5 - 510 7 - 590 3- — 6 - 560 8 - 595 At set no. 7 I got a light Brown rat. It was in the same trap as the one before. Hand shot a Megany & with a small young in the pouch
