a black dog cross a ridge and descend to a pond he would stop stop and look back presently a number of natives Kruames appeared the dog zig-zag back and forth at a fast bound. I through my glasses I could see its white fore feet and shoot in order to have a bushy tail which hung down between his legs. I waited when I was as sure I was not sure which way he would go... the closest native saw him and set out to chase him uttering a short "Woo-Woo". While waiting I took a photo of a Piglet. Presently he started to climb to cross himself. I was on so I hurried on but as I had to climb steep felt that could not turn him back me across. Shortly the natives appeared and commenced to demand some tobacco and when I showed them that I had none they produced some of their own and started to smoke in a sheltered spot where I got a photo. I waited a few minutes then started back to camp. We got as far as the red saddle on the ridge above camp when we heard some more natives shouting presently I saw the dog cross a small hill below and we started to head him off as we did so I saw a Marsh Hare sitting on a rock and was sorely tempted to try a shot at him. The dog ran in to "Wow!" Bored shortly boy who shot him so that I climbed to the trail and waited for them to bring him along. I got a photo of them coming along (XXXIV-17) with the garando Hill in the background. June 21 1933 We tried to get an early start but they went against it first the porridge tin was empty and cook did not call me also the bread was all gone so that I had to make pancakes. and I got hold of the frying pan that the dog had been missing for curry so that they started and would not turn. We got started at 8:00. We made a false start or rather we were at its being a walk, so I returned and got one but it did not carry us more than 50 or 10 minutes. We followed the route shown on Middlesons map. Bored shot 2 footprints gnu and we stopped after to look at its scenery. About ½ way we were caught by these Kruames who then acted as guides. We got to the top at 4:15. The feeling point was 8°8.74 and the temperature of the air in the wind + shade of the bavin was 6.75
