April 25, 1933 Cont'd After supper I went shooting just past the gate some animal probably a Macaw flew off through the grass but I was unable to see him. He left way into the second [large] rainforest and small animal caught up with it. I shot at him but missed and about 10th way through I shot a Dactylorhiza in a low lean over tree. In the grass swamp on a palm or young coconut tree I shot a Pteropus. He had a bit of luck finding his castle grass was higher than my head. I succeeded in walking straight to him. After I shot with what I thought was an ant but could not find it. I happened to shoot sing light into a neighboring coconut and caught glimpses of a Petman. I went over to pick him up when I saw another but he sailed off hard hit but I lost him. I got the first. I walked to inner edges of the coconuts and strode back when I shot another bat that proved larger. April 26, 1933 The morning was spent in skinning out last night's catch and getting ready to leave. Later afternoon was spent similarly and in conjecture whether Adamson would arrive. He got in a little before six. I went shooting after supper. April 27, 1933 As it was necessary to give the two horses that Adamson brought to rest we spent the day loafing around and on fruiting for calls to the lobbes. April 28, 1933 I packed one of the two new horses with boxes of my clothing & blankets using a side saddle as Adamson doesn't know the cleaver field. We got started at eight we went along a small track for an hour and half then alternate savannah & partly forest from the to the mission road. From there we continued through its same country for a half hour to the rainforest we continued up hill for another half hour then up & down for 3/4 and then down the last hr. to Kibuna where we got arrived about 2 o'clock noon.
