September 19, 1935 A fine morning but not luck in mammals only or rat. During the afternoon we had several sharp showers. I in the first part of each some of the rats that were dry. About 4:00 I went out intending to try and get some pheasants for supper but I saw a large hawk or eagle sail over the forest so I want to try & shoot it but never saw it again after it disappeared from sight of the camp. Neither was there any luck at duck when the snipe refused to fly over & got shot though it tried it over the boys & got wounded. September 20, 1935 The weather held good all day; the morning was fine and its afternoon we without rain though it tryed to start about two. We were awoken at about 3:50 by the howling & barking of a dog in one of hands trails in the main trail. While she did not howl then anything else he certainly did bark a few times. It was quite savage on going at everything in sight. She does not differ internally at least from the village dogs with which she is undoubtedly crossed. I finish a film in the morning & develop it in the afternoon. It was only fair that this day's road in from Murr about 10:30 or 11:00 & we had him to land & supper. I got after supper I shamefully missed twice the snipe & Band missed for a Syncornus faguelena. September 21, 1935 A fine morning & early cloudy early afternoon with heavy rain coming from the N. at 4:00 & lasting till about even. Again no luck in mammals on white footed mouse not heard. After lunch I went shooting down the road but saw nothing except a swift with shortley. I got back just by the rain. After supper I again went out down up the road but saw nothing. September 22, 1935 The south was the same as yesterday. No luck in mammals and no bird. In the afternoon went a short way up the main trail. I made a fine shot at a tumbler pigeon than misses this or four times at swift.
