About 11:30 the first of the mission carriers arrived & stopped to give us a once over. They were led by a fine built man with a good load (about 7 rifles). & got Fort Sanders as they stood around looking at us. Maturo shot a Peromela, it had 3 going in pouch they was about 5mm long, they were not saved & I forgot about the. We had Father Garreau again for supper. Maturo brought in a Peromela. September 15 1935 A poor day every which way. The morning cloudy with rain coming on about 11:00 just after I got in. Father Bohn arrived about the same time & we gave him a couple of cups of whiskey. It was somewhat tires and a little feckup with the Waitapis calling them thieves etc every thing that he could without actually swearing. During the afternoon a good number of their porters brought some of their own yams around for face paint we felt rather guilty buying it but still it is a very welcome change to rice. We had both Father to clean, they more or less suspected what had happened & thought they blamed our boys. One of the steel traps was sprung & caught white hair. September 16 1935 It threatened rain most all day. Rained off & on most all day though. I did not visit traps, which field nothing. One trap was sprung & set by it I found a large brown feather which has Rand puzzled as to what bird it came from. Only one white footed mouse was caught & was not saved. Maturo shot a Peromela which I was unable to get it was on the ground not far from camp. After supper at dusk both Rand & myself had a try at some night fowl that was flying over the post but both missed. Rand shot two but now took to cooters. After supper as it was fine out I went shooting. Just the other side of the two slide I saw a Peromela below the trail. I located him by the noise of his feeding. He was sitting up using his fore foot to feed himself apparently bamboo shoots. I shot at him but sharply missed as I did not find him though I did not look very hard as the going was
