August 13, 1933 The weather was bad but this was less humid we added every thing but the expected Kevin did not arrive August 14, 1933 Patiently expecting to Kevin or rather impatiently we surmised all kind of accident with weather in the morning was lovely though by noon the sun was out and we had to fire afternoons. August 15, 1933 Mr. Brass left with two Mota Motuan School boys at 7:00 to find out what was wrong I went up to the summit of the hill above the Ero crossing. I took some bearings which are as follows: Mt. Ta'afa summit 2.25 E of Mag/North " " next house 2.31 " " Ramp 2.49 " " Murray Pass 6.0 E " " Waterfall 7.0 " " Mt. Albert Edward (Central) 2.5 E " " I then moved to the hill by camp and took the following: Mt. Ta'afa summit 2.24 E of Mag/N. " " next house 2.31 E of Veg.N. Monto Police Station 2.03 There is a gross error in one or the other of these readings but I did not have time to rectify them as Kevin dragged in between noon & two o'clock and about four thirty Menas arrived (chiefly from Isavula village). The rest of the afternoon was occupied in packing and arranging loads. We celebrated by two jugs of O.T Whiskey. August 16, 1933 We got away well out too much confusion. The weather did not look promising with mist only a little above us. I left at 6:45 and got to the clearings 7:30 and the hark shelter at 8:35. It was about 10:30 & 11:00 when I fell in to Isavula village with about 10 of the carriers. I rested about 10 to 30 min and then continued on foot took me a terrific long time to make it as I found the going hot & tiring so it took until about one before I got in. I was the first in the rest straggled in till after three.
