Antsirabe-Tananarive-Meratanana 31
Oct 28, 1929
Left Antsirabe in the morning and got into Tananarive about 2:30 or 3:00 o'clock after an eventful trip.
October 29-November 4. 1929
Stayed in Tananarive getting supplies.
November 5, 1929
Left with [illegible]s. What is common to Madagascar as Antsirabe about eight in the morning and got as far as Meratanana, about 50 km. I saw a long hawk the under part of the wings & body were white the rest gray. It was very large and look to be the same as we saw when Mr. [illegible] myself) were going from Jiray to Tulear on the Plain of Ranohitra. We stopped at a small village eighty km. too short of Meratanana there must have been fifty a more swallows and several Bee Eaters. The swallow probably were coming to breed & as I saw several times one chasing another one etc. The country we passed through was cut highly with river and which made it seem flat mountainous but in time it was probably a large flat plain.
