Beaver 1967 Alaska Journal 43 11 July (cont.) 1530 We drove back to line # 9x10 to set the traps. The mosquitoes are quite bad here. We returned to lab for supper. I spent the evening doing skilby boards. 12 July. Got up at 0800 and ate. It rained so examples until 10:00 and then did skilby boards. At noon, two remained to be done. 1300 Dr Pitelka did the two boards while I cleaned and re-gaged the boards. 1430 We (Tom, I, Dr Pitelka) left for line two first. The weather is warm, almost completely overcast and the wind is from the East at 15-20 mph. We changed the skilby board and I checked the emegence traps and then we looked around a little. We saw no birds, no noise - amazingly quiet! We drove on over to line 1 and changed the traps here. We saw a flock of kestral sandpipers and several E. florensis also. We returned at 1445. 2030 Dr. Pitelka and I discussed the byetna project and I told him I didn't want to go on with it. So, I'm now going to continue work but I'll also be helping Steve and Tom more. I think this & will work out fine. I can continue on this summer and think about other projects as I go. Dr. I said projects could develop here or at Berkeley. Let's see when I get there. It was a good discussion and I know where I stand now.
