Taeger until noon. 1300 Dr Littelke, Steve M, Tom C and I took the aerial natural insect sampler designed by Steve out to the Bear Ridge Micro meadow area and set it up. It has no nets yet but they will be made soon and then put on. The unit is to place into the wind (open net end) and sample insects at 4 or 5 interval up to, 6 feet. It appears that pins will be necessary to keep the nets facing into the wind since each piece is rather stiff. Why each sampling section is separated by 80vz is difficult to see, since the wind at the 0 to 6 foot interval will surely blow from the same direction. 1500 I washed the P. Taeger skin in white gas again because it was still greasy and then attempted to dry it. I didn't have time to finish it so I put it in the refrigerator until tomorrow. 9 July Got up late than went to breakfast. Fed the 12 taggle geese for S.M. and then regagged them for return to the field. I also prepared the vacuum sampler for collecting emerger data.
