Beaver 1967 Alaska Journal 39 6 July Went out and checked the nests again at 0830. The day is warm and sky clear. Light breeze is blowing from the N.E. Many chinantle and some typical active on the tundra. I came back after the nest check and prepared to go sample the Emergence Vigns, Take more soil samples, and put out sticky traps. 1330 Steve M. at his station went to Bear Ridge area at wind met. See chapter study for results of trap checks. Took Samples # 61-69 - see chapter study for details. Steve collected Trupid from the can Vigns and the ground. There appears to be quite a few around now. I did some more Vigns, but Steve's can trap had 40+0 adult or g. We continued on over to line #2 to check Vigns. See chapter study. Took samples #70-80 down. He returned at 1645. 2100 I went out to check the nests again. A very wet, thick fog has rolled in. Visibility is about 100-200 ft. I got right up on both banks so could check the nests easily. Timed in at 2445. 7 July Got up late and then went to the lab. Checked the nests and then returned to skim the parasite Taeger. This took until about 1430 since the drill was so flat and had to be degreased in gasoline and detergent. Prepared the soil
