Beaver 1967 species accounts Snowy Owl, 13 June 0950 Pt. Beaver, 4ft., Alaska I've just spotted a snowy owl sitting on a power pole about 1/8 mi. South of camp. The bird is slightly larger than the G.H. Owl and has no "ears" evident. The S. Owl just sat there while I walked within 25 feet of it. The bird changed position, but didn't fly off. I see one other only flying across the tundra east about 1/4 mi. from here. 14 June 1030 100 yards N of Replich ridge, Beaver Alaska Snowy Owl was observed sitting on a nest mound. She lay very flat. Dr. Tuttle said she had 5 eggs several days ago, but that one was broken some how, so 4 remain. 17 June 1030 Banef area, 1/2 mi. S. All Building, Beaver Alaska. I just saw two snowy owls, one perched, the other across the tundra. When the one in the rear caught up to the first one, it struck at it with its feet. The other one dove nearly to the ground and then kept on flying west. The pursuing fuilds like me Banef. I'm not too far from the S. Owl nest near the gas line and it is possible that these or at least the latter bird is are members of that pair.
