Beaver 1967 Species Account Red Polaris? Barrow, Alaska (near F&A buildings) 13 June K. Tolanen and I came upon a pair feeding in a small pond where two Northern polarises were feeding. The reds gave a call (alarm, imi sure) that was higher pitched than the Northerns. Both birds were quite tame. 10 July I have noticed that 9's are gone now or at least fewer around. 0's are incubating eggs and one inconspicuous. Some are still in nonbreeding fledges.
