0800 went through sample #3 and found Pedicis
Penna . Then, S. Maelen showed
me some samples of Tipule curifera and
Primoca gracilistyla . We spent the remainder
of the A.M. talking about the project, which
gave me an added lift toward deciding how to
start the project going.
1200 Ste Lemke then helped T. Custer make
mist net poles after the sliding fashion
I need for my M.S. study on Flycatchers.
We (Caligus - Karl, Steve, Dr Pethla, Tom and
I took the net and poles out to the dune
area and set it up along the gasoline (about
200 ft east). And attempted to scare birds
into the net. However, the wind (about
15-20mph) out of the east caused the set
to billow and move in such a way to cause
it to be visible to the birds. We didn't
catch anything. S. Maelen and I
walked on S. Toward the location of
his tanglefoot mist traps to see if
I would want to sample there. On the
way, about 100 yds S & slightly west of the
most concentrated bands (100yds N & W of
AA#5) I got this feeling observation on
C paster melanotus
