Beaver 1967 Alaska Journal 4 13 June (cont) 1430 (?) filled trough. I might note that the wind is out of the East at about 10mph. It is cold. The clouds are low & the sun hidden. I estimate the temperature at 45 OF or less. 1630 Karl and I walked around a large water filled basin and then began to head back to camp. We found several dead Taiga Gulls on the way back. We arrived in camp at 1645. 14 June Dr. Fitelber, Skare, Karl and I left in ~0830 the vessel for foot print lake and surrounding areas. Karl got out on beach ridge and the rest of us continued on to the lake. We stopped 0900 on the sand and got out about around. We saw a flock of pintail ducks on a small body of water. Several Sandpipers were feeding and calling all around us as were Arn Golden Plovers, R. Phalarope and M. Phalaropes. Dr. Fitelber says that very few birds are here in comparison to past years. 0940 We are now east of foot print and have stopped to look over theundra on Five mile ridge. Here we saw two white rumped Sandpipers and heard a Knot. McLean took some data on a R.B. cracet Sandpiper feeding. Then we left for some high polygons along the pipeline just south of the camps about 3/4 mi.
