Beaver 1967 Alaska Journal 63 1 Aug. (cont.) "wagon trail." As we approached the weir, a boggie broke off, the same one fixed earlier. we abandoned the vessel and walked the shore of Elson Lagoon. We saw Arctic terns, but all were to far out to see well. R. Phillips Jr. young feed along the shore. We came across a family group of Reddy Turnstones and both took several photos. Further on, we came to an Eskimo camp. Hay(?) had shot a Yellow- billed Loon . The & bird was much larger than the common loon but very similarly marked. we decided to walk or across Holmes Muss Beach to the lab. We saw 3 Black Belted Plover , but couldn't get close to any of them. We also saw several Red backs. No large flocks of shore birds were seen. we arrived back at the lab at 12:30 . 15:30 Steve and I went out to the reef flats to collect large red Chironomid larvae. This was done by stiring up a sand bottom and then collecting the larvae in a small Dix net. While doing this, Steve fold one of the set ups for my goin' to make river, stream and lake Thompson starting this week. He mentioned the possibility of my looking into a project involving the Red, Norton and Wilson's challenges and
