18 July (cont.)
took down the wind net, removed the 3 spare
bars and set it back up. Steve wants to have the legs
works them over. We also took the nets with us.
We continued on over to Central Marsh area
and changed sticky boards there and checked the
emergence traps. We returned to the lab. Steve
checked the flower nest along the way and the other
bird (of the pair from which one was removed the
previous evening) was incubating. We returned at
18/5.
2130 I helped Steve count Ipule and Pedria from
can tip samples taken earlier today. Turned
in after this.
19 July Planned to go into the field this afternoon.
For the 1st though, I helped Steve separate
out of the ipulea and pedria that were collected
in cans during the week he was away.
1300 I prepared to get more sod samples. Collected
all the canvas from the samples in the Burless
now (See Diptera study). Tom, Dr. Fittaker and I
left for line 4/4-13 at 1400.
I wandered off to make feeding observations
while Tom set his line and Dr. Fittaker went to
Footprint Lake. Returned at 18:00 to help Tom
since he saw only a few birds. We also took
sod samples (16) and returned to the lab.
