Klein, Kaven 1988 JOURNAL Hastings Reservation, Monterey Co., California April 7 16:30 Im going to head out to set the drift fence traps at MC and RC a little early because I want to collect wildflowers and plants as I go along. It's cooler this afternoon than it has been the last couple of days: low 70's - but with a cool breeze blowing [illegible] and clear blue skies. April 8 07:00 Out checking traps on the MC drift fences. It's clear and calm with temperatures around the low 50's. There was frost on my car windows and on some of the meadows so it must have been pretty cold last night. I finished checking traps at about 09:15 - it went well! 8:00 I'm leaving to set traps at the drift fences in RC and MC. It's been clear and sunny all day. A constant breeze has blown and temperatures have been in the mid to high 70's. April 9 07:00 Out checking traps on the MC and RC drift fences. It's clear with a slight breeze and temperature is in low 50's. I finished at 09:30. It really warmed up quickly, it's probably around the high 60's already and a warm wind is blowing. Im going to get started a little earlier tomorrow. Im also going to set some extra traps at RC E and possibly W; there were a lot of animals there today! 10:45 Im heading out to pick up some more bait and traps and then to set the RC and MC drift fences.
