By 0500h beginning to get light. 0530h - first bird songs begin. At 0600h it turns light enough to begin checking traps. At 0700h I met up with Marco and we checked and picked up traps on MC, finishing by 0900h. Summary of Results on MC: P. californicus 7 captures P. boylii 14 captured (3 new) (1 mortality) P. tuwei 13 '' (2 new) P. maniculatus 1 '' Perognathus 3 '' N. bescapes 1 '' TOTAL 40 captures (5 new) I returned to the lab to stuff 2 mortalities. Note that 19 animals were captured on the RC west drift fence (68% trap success). We should add 10 more traps to this fence this afternoon. Today was clear and warm, upper 60s. From 1630 to 1700 hrs we reset MC drift fence traps and traps on the grid to try and catch #1104 (5's 9,10; 9,8; 9,7; 9,6; and #1104) 4 traps around 9,5,7). We haven't received a signal from her since Friday night and haven't caught her since Friday AM. We reset RC traps drift fence traps from 1710 to 1730h, adding 10 more traps to the west drift fence. All grid traps on RC were closed - we've given up on catching #1140's mate. At 1900h Marco went out to do telemetry on RC, I'll be replacing him later. 2200 hrs - out on RC for telemetry. It's clear, calm, moon is 3/4 and setting behind the hills. Finished by 2330 hrs and headed home. March 23 0700h - out checking traps on MC. It's calm, partly cloudy and cool (low 50s) On grid MC we didn't catch #1104 in any of the set traps. We did catch her mate #1971 at a trap set at 9,7.5
