The fog began to roll in around 11:30hrs and settled in very thickly by 1800h. 2300hrs - out checking traps on MC. It's foggy and drizzling lightly. Results: 5r. 9,7 1104 P.californicus 4lg & 1u California Dusted with Green Powder. 11,5 1128 " DECAP. Finished by 2315h and loaded home. March 6 0635h - out checking traps on MC. It's clear, calm, cool (low40s), and very damp. I will be closing all traps and leaving drift fence passageways open. Results on MC traps: 4r. 1D, 1a 118lo P.californicus 2log. & 1mm, wollyp I collected reports for Ted Grosholz as I covered up pit cans. Started checking Grid WB by 0850h. Collected tail traps from 3 more individuals. Finished checking and picking up all traps by 1045hrs and returned to lab to process tails and get packed up. Summary of results on WB: P.californicus: 8 captures P. tenuis : 13 " (1new) P. boylii : 4 " (2new) N. fuscaus 1 " TOTAL : 26 captures Packed up and left Hastings around 1430h. March 7 Arrived back at Hastings around 1300hrs today. I don't think it rained while I was gone and although dry, things are still greening up. The deciduous oaks (Blue's Valley) are beginning to leaf out. Marco arrived around 1400hrs - he is here to help with radio-telemetry. We set traps on Grid and drift fence MC from 1500 to 1600h, and the same on RC from 1630 to 1730hrs. We set traps on both grids to find out which females are lactating.
