RIBBLE, D.O. 1988 Journal 26 Hastings Reservation, Monterey Co., Calif. Feb 19. 0700hrs - Out checking traps on MC. It's clear, calm, upper 40s. Results on RC grid traps (P.californicus only): st. 4,5,7 1914 P.californicus 41.5g ♂ M scrotal. Finished checking all traps by 0915hrs and returned to lab to blast 2 new P.californicus and stuff P.boylei mortality. Summary of results on grid-MC: P.californicus 4 7 (new) 8 P. boylei 4 10 (new) 13 P. truei 5 7 9 TOTAL 13 24(2new) 30 I returned the 2 new annuals that I am to their capture sites before noon in good condition. Today was mostly calm and warmer than yesterday (upper 60s). From 1100 to 1630 hrs I reset traps on RC. I moved around some of the traps set west of RC, but localities are still similar. Reset MC traps from 1645 to 1730hrs. Caught #01900 P.boylei in a trap at station B,B. Released her in good shape. 2130hrs - Out checking traps on MC. It's cool, calm, lower 50s. No moon. Finished by 2220hrs and moved on to check RC. Results on RC traps (P.californicus only): st # 58 1182 P.californicus RECAP 35,6 1189 " " 2,55 1792 " " 2,5 1187 " " ♂ M 1D. Ears mouth, limbs have green powder. within 1180 " " Released in on drift fence Headed home by 2330 hrs.
