Note that on the drift fence west of RC I caught 6 animals going in (6/11 trap success), and 8 animals gone out (8/11 trap success) - total of 14/22, nearly 64% trap success. I should add more traps to this fence soon. Spent the rest of the morning cleaning traps from last week. Set traps on grid WR from 1400 to 1545hrs. The top half of the grid (only) has covers for traps. Reset RC drift fences from 1550 to 1615 hrs. Released #1160 at its capture site in good shape. Finished resetting MC drift fence traps by 1645hrs. Today was a gorgeous day - clear, calm, upper 60's. 2130hrs - out checking traps on drift fence west of RC (due to lactating P. californicus caught this am). It's clear, calm, moon (< 1/4 full) is just setting in the east, lower 40's. Finished by 2145hrs. Jan 23 8700hrs - out checking traps. It's clear, calm, and cool (upper 30's). Starting checking grid WR by 0830 and finished by 1030hrs. Collected tissues from animals on the grid, after checking all traps. So, finally finished and headed to lab at 1135hrs. Summary of results on Grid WR: P. californicus: 11 captures (4 new) P. canylinii : 3 " (2 new) P. truei : 9 " (7 new) N. fuscipes: 6 " (5 new) S. howardugii: 1 mortality TOTAL : 30 captures (18 new) Today was another gorgeous day - clear, calm, low 70's. I reset traps on grid WR from 1530 to 1630hrs. I set 4 Tomahawk traps around rows 13-15 to try and catch whatever turned traps last night.
