Ribble, D.O. 1988 Journal 1/2 Hastings Reservation, Monterey Co., Calif. Nov 2 (cont) Spent the rest of the am fixing the road up to the cabin & chopping wood. Spent the afternoon working on data - today was mostly clean and warm (low 60s). Reset LC drift fence traps and all MC traps from 1100-1730h. 2045 20th-out checking traps on MC. It's clear and cool (low 50s), no moon. Only a couple of traps closed with no animal, but very few captures. Saw a Urocyon around station 8,19 from 7,17 - it stood back until I proceeded to go towards it, at which it ran away uphill. Finished by 20 2130h. Nov 3 0540-out checking traps on MC. Overcast, low 50s, and still fairly dark! The Urocyon must have been near the west drift fence because Jesse bailed and I found a fresh scat at W-9. Opened up all traps, left passageways open, and covered pit fall cans. Finished checking traps by 07th and proceeded to check LC drift fence traps, finishing by 0900h. Nov15 Arrived back down at Hastings today around 1430h. Skies are partly cloudy, low 70s. The ground is very wet - apparently we got our first good rain of the season over the weekend (~-6 inch). I set all traps on Grid RL and RC drift fences from 1515 to 1715hrs. I covered all folding Shermans and most of the exposed non-folding traps
