Picked up these traps (transect east of RC) as I checked them. Finished checking traps by 0445 hrs. It didn't rain while checking traps, but it is still overcast. Summary of results on MC: P. californicus 14 (PM) 15 (am) # individuals P. boylii 2 7 (one dead) 9 P. truei 7 8 10 R. nebulosa 0 1 1 -------------------------------- Total 14 22 29 Returned home to wash clothes & work on paper work. It stayed mostly cloudy today, although the sun did shine a few times. Reset RC drift fence traps from 1515 to 1545 hrs and MC traps from 1600 to 1700 hrs. By sunset skies cleared. 2100 hrs - out checking traps on MC. It's clear, calm, & cool (low 40°s). I checked all traps and 17 stations had at least one trap rolled. No tracks evident anywhere. Finished by 2215 hrs Jan 16 0700 hrs - out checking traps on MC. It's mostly clear this am, with dark clouds in the western horizon. Temp in 40°s. I picked up and cleaned all traps on MC as I checked them. On the drift fence east of MC I found a snake trap scat on top of one of the traps. So, it must be a snake that is turning traps. Finished MC by 0900 hrs and RC by 0940 hrs. All drift fence passageway were left open.
