Started opening up all drift fence traps, lining them on the fence (leaving passageway open), and covered all pit fall cans as I checked traps. Stopped and picked up all traps at the crossing - no P. californicus collected. Started checking traps on RC by ~0730hrs and picked up traps as I went. Finished by 1045h and returned to the cabin to (10pm) 17(daw) [illegible] pack up. Summary of results on RC: P. californicus 9 captors 9 captors 13 P. boylii 15 capt (new) 20 capt 25 N. fuscipes 5 * (l new) 4 * 8 Microtus 3 " 3 " 4 Perognathus 1 " 3 " 3 B. mogolona 0 2(l new) 2 TOTAL 3 [illegible] 3 captors (new) 41 (new) 55 Before leaving, I introduced #1375 into the left enclosure with #1412. I also put in a young (~10 days old) P. maniculatus that Fanny Arnold had found abandoned behind the Robinson place. It's eyes were barely open and it probably won't make it. Left Hastings for Berkeley by 1230h, under clear & hot(again) shoes (upper 90s). Oct 28 Arrived back at Hastings around 1800h with Janice Butler and daughter. It was just getting dark as we arrived, so I didn't set any traps. The mammal class is down this weekend with both Jim Patton and Bill Lidicker. Oct 29 Spent the am drinking around with the mammal class. Skies were partly cloudy early, but clear and warm (70s) by noon. At 1400h I started resetting setting out and baiting traps on G210 MC and MC drift fence traps. Meadow Canyon is still extremely dry - most of the snowberry has lost all of its leaves
