July 9 0600h - The sky is clear and the temp is high 70's and I am very tired because Julie and I went to dinner and a movie in Mifflin the last night and didn't get back until LATE. I'm checking traps in MC, then will head to RC. Julie said she'll help me get those photos taken of the captive pups later today.
July 10 0615h - Dave Laabs stopped by on his way to work somewhere off of HWY 9 and spent the night. He's helping me check drift fence before he takes off. It is upper 80's and clear on RC. This afternoon I'll start setting up MC GRID for another round of trapping. Dave Rissle should be back 2/8/05 to help out.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention (put it at the end of my head ?!) that I managed to miss a drift fence trip yesterday morning and found a dead Pboylii (#013) in trap W6.5 (in) which I went at to reset the day before yesterday evening. Due to a stomach/intestine inflicting, I did not stuff it yesterday, but I will as soon as I get a chance.
August 1 0615h - clear sky with temp ~ 50°F. Checking drift fence traps this am. Then this afternoon I'll clean out the captive animal cages in the barn. Besides setting the drift fence traps this evening, I get to drink all day long!
August 2 0615h - foggy to the point of being difficult to see !
Temp ~ 50°F . Drift fences + dinking again today. Also I will set traps in the chaparral on haystacks in attages to catch Dipodays.
August 3 0600h - foggy ~ 80°F . Checking drift fences and haystacks and then dinking ! *I caught no Dipodays on Haystack. And unfortunately I DID catch a smooshed Peromyscus californicus #1348 on RC east drift fence. She had gone in the trap and was beating back out when the trap closed. A big was eating her nose off. I called D.D.R at MZB in Berkeley and he said to either raise a 4cm or save the skeleton. I made a study skin in a record 1 1/2 hours including finding all of the necessary tools and tags. Dave Laabs came at 7:00pm and helped me set drift fence traps.
Aug 3-4 0630h - cloudy ~ 50°F. Checking drift fence traps for one last time. Left passageways open and cleaned Lot. Dave did most of it... ) the pit all came out. That was gross. Pitfall cans were covered. NOW I am gone from this beautiful place and undoubtedly miss it. Even DOR...
