June 20 0600h - It's in the mid 50's and foggy too on Robertson Creek this morning. I'm going to check drift fences + the transects I set up between the fence, and grids both here and at Medrere Canyon. This afternoon I plan on working on the woodland census in Madrone Canyon, 1000 h - I mailed the hygorthermograph to RC from WR but I was supposed to do it on Saturday...oops. I didn't remember until I was checking traps today. This afternoon turned out to be raining, so I borrowed some old shingles from Suzanne and covered the grid traps I had set. I also took boards from row 8 of my grid (10 of them) and used these. When I'm done with them (if it stops raining) I will bring them over + RC west drift fence where I think they'll receive more use.
June 21 0600h - Low 50's w/ scattered clouds this morning. Checking same stuff as yesterday... drift fences + my three drift fence -> grid transects. Finished by 0945h and checked on captive animals. This afternoon I must work on woodland census. Hopefully I will get enough done to warrant a trip into town with Jane Romboots + watch the Celtics beat the Pistons in the final game of the playoffs tonight...
June 22 0615h - Warm and clear this morning -- ~ 60°F. Yesterday was a sloucher and today will probably be worse. I'm checking the drift fences + the three transects again this am. Early this afternoon I plan on going out with Jane R. to try and catch Bluebirds with her. [I forgot to mention yesterday that there was a Tiger Salamander in a pitfall trap on east my drift fence! Beautiful!!!] I also will work on the woodland house census, and hopefully finish it.
June 23 0615h - Another warm am -- low 60's. Checking drift fences + the three transects. 1500h - I'm heading out to collect cage proteins for the captive animals. To catch up things here, I should mention that I completed the woodland census on my yesterday afternoon. I picked up the traps I had set between the drift fences and grids this morning. When I return from cleaning the cages and setting the drift fence traps I will clean and pack for my trip to Eugene, OR this weekend.
June 24 0530h - Upper 50's. I'm at Robertson Creek checking drift fence traps. I'm going to meet Jane Romboots at ~ 0615 h to take her to Medrere Canyon to check traps there (she wants to meet the mice before she leaves). Well also see if the little junco nest is still full of chicks near MC at 10,1. 0900 - On my way to Eugene...
June 29 D.O. Pissle left me on my own again this afternoon. I'm heading out to set traps for RC GRID. I will check them EARLY tomorrow any
June 30 0520h - I'm checking my drift fence first this am because it isn't as spooky before the sun comes up... It's x 50° or so and clear out. When I'm done here I'll head out to check RC GRID + drift fences. I'll pick up traps on the grid. Summary of results for RC grid trapping is on the next page...
