Dobble, D.O. 1908 Journals 93 Nastburg Reservation, Monterey Co., Calif. July 29 (cont) In the afternoon Ellie took humidity measures and combed Neotoma middens on RC while I worked on my paper. I reset MC drift fence traps around 61730; both of us reset WR grid traps from 1800-1830; and RC drift fence traps from 1940 to 1950plus. July 30 0000h - out on MC drift fences checking traps. It's clear, calm, full moon in west. Started out checking traps on WR around 0715h. Finished by 0830. Returned to the lab & Ellie weighed the babies. Summary of results WR: P.californicus . (captures) P. truei : 19 " (1new) N. fusipes : 11 " (2new) P. boylii : 3 " Perognathus : 4 " Total : 43 " (3new) Ellie took humidity measures around noon - I spent the afternoon preparing specimens - 1 Spingolulus and 3 of the captive P.californicus (#1135, 1295, & 1332). I decided to this now rather than have someone else take care of them in my absence (& Ellie) during August (See catalog & notes on specific animals for details) Ellie reset MC drift fence traps around 1730h, then we both reset WR & RC traps from 1815-1915h. July 31 0000h - out on MC checking traps. It's foggy and cool this ain! First break in the weather we've seen in a while. Started checking traps on WR by 0700. Picked up all traps as we checked them. Finished by 0830h and headed back to the lab. Weighed (also sacrificed & #1243) babies, ear-tagged them, and collected tissues from them - I'll be taking them up to Berkeley with me today.
