RUBBLE, D.O. 1988 Journal 94 Hastings Reservation, Monterey Co., Calif. July 23 0600h - out checking traps on MC. It's partly cloudy, mid 50's. Started checking traps on RC by 0630h and finished by 0840h. Stopped at WR to check temperature on way back to lab to bleed new P.californicus from RC (#1309). Summary of results on RC: P.californicus 2cap(tms) 9cap(tbs) 10 #ind P.boylii 8''(3new) 22''(2new) 27 N.fuscipes 8'' 17''(1new) 18 Micotus 1'' 3'' 3 Perognathus 0 2'' 2 TOTAL 19''(3new) 53(3new) 40 Ellie weighed the babies this am while I bled a new animal from RC. We finally got some rest later this am. Ellie took humidity readings around 1330h and I released the new animal on RC in good shape at 1500h. Spent the rest of the afternoon entering capture data, etc. Today was hot (again) (100) and calm. Reset MC drift fence traps around 1800h and all RC traps from 1930 to 195h. 2230h - out checking traps on RC. It's clear, calm, moon ~ 50 full and in Western skies. Not many animals captured tonight - maybe due to moon. Finished by 2330h & loaded home. July 24 0600h - out checking traps on MC. It's clear, calm, low 60's. Started checking traps on RC by 0130h and finished by 0815h. Stopped at WR to record temps & return to lab. Summary of results on RC: P.californicus 23(pm) 24(am) #ind.
