Dibble, D.O. 1988 Journal 83 Hastings National History Reservation, Monterey Co., Calif. July 13 (cont.) Summary of results on MC: P. californicus : 9 captures P. berfii : 26 " (2 new) P. humi : 6 " (2 new) N. fusipes : 31 " Perazephyrus : 3 " (1 new) total 45 " (5 new) We took it easy and rested the remaining Am.... This afternoon we began wite on all measuring the location and dbh of all buckeyes and Laurel trees on MC. The distance from each tree to the nearest stakes was recorded. dbh of Buckeyes was recorded by taking the mean of all dbh measures on all trunks < 3.5 cm. We calculated the mean with a calculator in the field, thus we only recorded the mean and sample size. I measured dbh by sighting with a metric tape. Staubach came up this PM & we cut a hole in the buckeye at station 10,10 to retrieve the radio-collar of Q # 1196 (see spp acct). Took humidity measures on all grids between 3/700-1740h. Today's readings are the first correct humidity measures - called Foresky suppliers and got the proper instructions. wet The bulb should be soaked with H2O equilibrated to air temp, and then swung. It should be swung until the wet bulb reaches a constant temperature (stop every 20 sec & check). Today was slenny, low 80's (warmer than previous days) Reset MC traps from 1800-1845h and PC traps from 1700 - 1720h.
