It's clear, calm, low 50s Finished checking traps on MC by 0800 and proceeded to check RC drift fence traps. Checked Thermometer on WR around 0400h and returned to lab to weigh captive animals, etc. Summary of results on MC: P. californicus : 8 captures P. boylii : 24 " (2 new) P. tuiui : 5 " N. fuscipes : 2 " Perognathus : 2 " (new) TOTAL : 41 captures (3 new) Again, good results with few traps closed but no animals. Today was similar to yesterday - clear/breezy, mid 80s. From 1430 to 1515h I took humidity readings on all 3 grids. It seems it makes a difference if the psychrometer is swung 30sec vs 1min. I assume 1min is "more correct", but I should call forestry suppliers to check. From 1515 to 1800hrs we finally finished up the habitat measurements on GRID MC; all that is left is to record location of oak of Laurel trees. Reset MC traps from 1800 to 1700h and RC spot check traps & drift fence traps from 17-1730hrs. We'll be going out on RC @ 0500h tomorrow to hopefully give more animals a chance to enter traps July 13 0500h - out checking traps on RC. It's clear, calm, low 50s. Finished checking grid traps by 0540 - just before it's light enough that the black light is ineffective. Checked the drift fences and moved on to MC around 0615h. Finished checking MC traps by 0800h. Ellie weighed the babies while I checked the min/max temp on GRID WR.
