DAVE -
Here's what I did while you were at the fuzzy creatures meetings...
* I FINISHED MAPPING THE WOODRAT NESTS ON MADRONE CANYON - I also went back to our data from JUNE 13-18 on the grid and included on the maps where we caught N. fuscipes. Each 'V' indicates one capture; + the # of the animal follows.
** I trapped ~50m east of MC western drift fence (#ing from fence -> east + ~50m west of MC eastern fence (#ing from fence -> west)
and ~50m east of RC western drift fence, with an extra set of traps on the northern bank of the creek (10m from fence).
MC: I caught P. californicus # 1216 ~40m from the MC eastern drift fence near the path; # 1184 ~10 meters to the right of where #1216 was trapped, near a woodrat nest + #1352 we caught a ~20 meter from the eastern fence near the large log, visible from the path.
RC: A mature or P. californicus that had lost his ear tag, was re-tagged #135J He and Q # 1279 were on the northern bank of the creek where you told me a pair had been living in the past.
-> I put flags up at all stations -- they do not necessarily follow a straight line...
**** cleaned I changed the captive animals cages on June 23rd. They are getting quite chubby!!!
***** I botched up + didn't move the hygrothermograph until Mon. Sorry, I also forgot to write the initial date + time, but I wrote it on the corner... (oops.)
****** It rained one night (w/ thunder + lightning more-than-less!) so I gathered wooden boards to cover the traps. I left some of the ones from madrone canyon grid (row 8) at RC drift fence (west) because they seemed more useful + necessary there.
******* There is a dead Ensatina (young one) in the treecor that I found in a pitfall trap. Didn't know what to do with him ... (her?)
