It is barely light enough to walk about flashlight, but flashlight needed to see snails. Finished checking traps on MC by 730h and checked DC drift fence traps. Summary of results on MC: P. californicus: 7 captures P. truei : 6 " P. boylii : 19 [illegible] " (1 new) N. fuscipes : 3 " TOTAL: 35 " (new) Ellie checked in the lab animals and we took it easy the rest of the am. The fog didn't clear until 1100h this am and the rest of the day was clear, upper 90s. We worked on habitat measures on MC from 13-1700h this afternoon, finishing rows 9 and 11 stations of row 8 (21 stations remaining). Reset MC traps from 1700h to 1745h. I set the large carnivore National trap near Station 8,12 since we've had a few (>10) traps turned. Also, found # 1205 in a trap at 8,17. Apparently Ellie thinks she checked both traps at this station, so perhaps she entered the trap which is located in a ~1in diameter log during the day. She was released in good shape. Reset DC drift fence traps from 18-1930h. 2240h - out checking traps on MC. It's clear, calm, low 50s. Caught a F Ursinus in the large trap - not a happy camper... Finished by 2345h and returned to a new P. californicus to the lab to bleed tomorrow am, and returned the Ursinus to his cabin to release away from here.
