June 8(cont) Summary of results on WR: P. californicus: 10 captures (3 new) P. truei 12 " (4 new) P. boylii 4 " (1 new) N. fuscipes 8 " (4 new) TOTAL 30 " (12 new) We spent all day at Asilomar for the Evolution meetings. We reset WR traps from 18-1900h, and drift fence traps (MC & PC) from 1915 to 2000h. Last, we set 8 traps under the bunkhouse to try and catch a pair of animals for captivity. Ellie is going to check those later this evening. June 9. 0600h - out checking traps on MC drift fences. It's clear, calm, low 40s. Results on transect beneath bunkhouse: New 1327 P. californicus ♀ SAD up, nullip. 30g. Ear-tagged & released. Ellie also caught a ♀ in this area which she put in captivity last night (see notes on capture animals) We finished checking traps on WR by 0930h and bled 2 animals at the truck and returned them to their capture sites around 945h. Returned to the lab to spin down blood and prepare sore mortality from June 14. Summary of results on WR: P. californicus: 8 captures (1 new) P. truei : 6 " P. boylii : 4 " Perognathus : 3 " N. fuscipes : 8 " (2 new) TOTAL 29 " (3 new) A lot of traps on WR were turned over by woodrats - need to set out some National traps this PM! Today was mostly clear and warm (upper [illegible] low 80s)
