The first (cool) moon (Blue Moon) is just rising - We finished checking all traps by 23rd and headed home. June 1 0615h - out checking traps on MC drift fences. It's mostly clear (some high clouds) and, calm, low 50s. We picked up all folding Shermans and opened up all the non-folding Sherms on RC. Finished checking traps by 0930h. Summary of results on RC: P.californicus 31(PM) 1(Am) # ind Ocypus 1(capt) 14 P. boylii 8 " 16" 18 N. fascipes 0 " 0 " 6 Microtus 2 0 2 TOTAL 18" 33" 40ind. I got packed up & cleaned and headed for Berkeley by noon. See Ellie's field notes for activities in my absence. June 7 I arrived back down at Hastings around noon under partly cloudy skies. Looks like rain for this afternoon. Ellie and I spent all afternoon at Asilomar at the Evolution meeting. We got back around 1800h and hastled to set traps on grid WR. We finished WR by 1930h and reset RC + MC drift fence traps from 15430 to 2015h. It was clear and cool (low 40s) this evening. It's clear, calm, upper 30s (cool). June 8 0545h - out checking traps on MC drift fences. Started checking traps on WR by 0700h. Since we are going into Asilomar again today, I opted to not bleed new P.californicus on WR this am. We finished WR by 0900 and returned to the lab to blood a new (#1286) P.californicus on MC drift fence. Ellie released it in good shape around 0830h.
