I took a vaginal smear from R#1135, and then got an exact location on the radio-collar that slipped off of #1186 (see app Acot). I also checked all pet fall cans on drift fences before noon. Spent the afternoon catching up on field notes, etc. Ellie arrived back down around 1000h this afternoon and we reset all RC traps from 1030 to 1200h (many of the traps had to be cleaned out), and MC drift fence traps around 1815h- 2210h - out checking traps on RC. The full moon has just risen (close to) it and is very bright! Look (low 50%). We finished checking traps by 2310h and headed home. May 31 0615h - out checking traps on MC drift fences. It's clear & calm, low [40%] Finished checking traps by 0900h and returned to lab to take vaginal smear from #1135, and to show Ellie how to prepare study skins. Each transect has 10 m between stations (measured with tape). The transect west has 32 stations (320m) and east has 20 stations (200m). Ellie will trap these next week for tagged P.californicus. Today was mostly clear, upper 70s. Vermin We reset all RC traps from 17-1800hrs & MC drift fence traps from 1845 to 1830hrs.
