Marco set 4 traps in the SW corner of the grid to try and catch # 1128 to remove her collar and # 1186 to figure out what happened to his collar. Marco & Ellie went out at ?? 2045h for telemetry (see data sheet) and will be coming then at 0200h. May 26 0700h - met up with Marco on MC for telemetry. It's clear, calm, low 50's. Moon is 1/2 full and just setting. See telemetry data. Started checking MC drift fences around 0520h. Took one more telemetry reading before returning to meet up with Marco & Ellie at 0630h. 420 thawed, and fog has moved in - We caught 3 D. Californicus in the traps set downstream from GPD PC (see Dispersal Data Sheets), 1 new one and 2 tagged ones that were previously caught by Warren's Marco. So, the tagged animal that escaped from Warren yesterday can was probably not a new disperser. Finished checking RC drift fence by 0800h and returned to lab to take vaginal smear from # 1135 and stuff over mortality. Marco and I got some sleep around noon. Today was partly cloudy, breezy, and considerably cooler than previous days (low 70's). This afternoon we cleaned up all the folding Sherman borrowed from Bob Jones and put the iron-folding Shermans used on on dispersal transsets back on MC. Reset MC drift fence traps around 1630h and picked up the hygrothermograph on MC. Reset RC drift fence traps and set all grid traps from 17-1800h. Set up the hygrothermograph on RC at station 6,13- 2200h - out checking traps on MC. Clear, calm, low 50's, moon is ~ 3/4 full and directly overhead. Finished around midnight and headed home (see Journal for 27 May for S. beckmanii found).
