RIBBLE, D.O. 1988 Journal 64 Hastings Reservation, Monterey Co., Calif. May 23 (cont) untagged P. californicus, as well as examine all other species for toe-clips. Each transect will consist of 2 traps per station with 20m between stations. Tomorrow we will move each station 10m further away from the grid. I have cut 20m sections of rope to make these distances as precise as possible, so I will know how far from the grid the animals have moved. People were late arriving, so we didn't get started until around 1630h. Alex, Bernie and I set traps away from MC grid, and Bill, Marco, Warren, & Frances did RC. We didn't finish setting all traps until after 1900h - a lot of work (see 24 for details on transects). Marco & Alex went out later in the evening for telemetry (see Telemetry Data), but only for a short while. 1630h May 24 Out checking and traps in Madrone Canyon w/ Bernie & Alex. It's clear, calm, mid 50's. Finished checking all traps by 1015h and returned to lab to prepare mortalities. Great results this am, we caught a total of 16 tagged P. californicus (see Data sheets for details).
