Ribble, D.O. 1988 Journal 58 Hastings Reservation, Monterey Co., Calif. May 10 (cont) in the same traps. The Sorey was partially dried out (best's nose) and virtually decomposing. I suspect it was in the trap yesterday, but under the trailer, so I missed it. Returned to lab to prepare it (Cat #865, full skeleton only) and bleed new P.californicus around 0900h. Released new P.californicus around 1000h and then finished trimming around the MC east drift fence with the weed eater. Then finished off trimming both DC drift fences. Spent all afternoon cleaning traps (from grid DC) and building another enclosure similar to the existing one. Today was sunny and warm (low 80s) - very nice! Reset MC drift fence traps and grid traps from 1730h to 1830h. Finished resetting DC drift fence traps around 1900h. May 11 0600h - out checking traps on MC. It's clear and warm (upper 50's). Will be closing all drift fence traps and leaving passage ways open. Finished checking traps by 0815h. Checked & fed captive animals. Left for Berkeley around 1030h. May 12 Arrived back at the traps today around 1400h. Skies are cloudy, low 60's. It rained on me most of the way down. From 1100h to 1800h I set traps on grid MC and the drift fence traps on MC. Replaced the paper on the hygrothermograph graph to begin another cycle. Reset DC drift fence traps from 1600 to 1930hrs and went to check on the capture animals. It started drizzling around 1900h and continued into the evening. 2230h - out checking traps on MC. It's overcast, low 40's (not raining yet). Finished by 2330h & headed home. Skies beginning to clear.
