Spent most of the afternoon working on MC west drift fence: shining up sags, filing in gaps with dirt, and straightening passageways. Today was mostly sunny and warm (upper 60's). It was so nice I had to get out and do something fun - so I set traps a bit early. From 1500 to 16:15h I reset MC drift fence traps and the top 2 1/2 rows (rows 11, 10, 9) on the grid. I want to assess reproductive condition of females - To set RC drift fence traps from 16:30 to 17:00h. May 9 06:30h - out checking traps on MC. It's mostly clear, upper 40's. Finished checking all traps by 09:28h and returned to lab to label 2 new animals from Gen MC. Released them at their capture sites by 11:00h. Went into the village around noon to send a package to a potential field assistant and pick up a few items. Today was sunny & warm (low 70's) - nice. Spent most of the afternoon fiddling around with the weed eater - couldn't get the thing to start. Gave up and set RC drift fence traps from 17:00 to 17:30h. Stopped by Mark's shorts and they helped me start it (one wire was unplugged!). Reset MC drift fence traps and grid traps from 18:00 to 18:45hrs. Started mowing grass & weeds along west drift fence area (finished) and east fence area. Eventually ran out of gas and quit around 19:30h. May 10 06:30h - out checking traps on MC. It's clear, low 50's. On RC drift fence, station E-1 (in), there was a P. boylii and a dead Sarpy ornatus.
