Today was mostly clear and warm(low 70s). At 1145hs I spent some time on RC getting radio-locations from the remaining collared animals (see Sept Oct's Telemetry Data). Reset all RC traps from 17:15 to 1800hs, went back to lab and picked up #1257, and released him in good shape by 18:15h. Reset MC drift fence traps from 19:20 to 1845h. 2215h - out checking traps on RC. It's clear, calm, cool (mid 40s), no moon yet. May 4 6:07h - four-dab checking traps, alot of animals. No moon so many in the trees last. Not visible yet, but skies noticeably lighter. 6:30h - out checking traps on MC drift fences. It's partly cloudy and cool (mid 40s). It remained partly to mostly cloudy all morning. Finished checking all traps by 0945h and returned to lab to load new food from last night Summary of results on RC: P. californicus 10 captures (new) 13 18 P. boylii 28 " (2 new) 27 (3 new) 40 N. fascipes 2 " 5 (2 new) 6 Perognathus 1 " 1 2 Microtus 3 " (3 new) 4 (2 new) 0 P. maniculatus 2 " 4 4 TOTAL 8 4 (0 (no new)) 54 (7 new) 7 (0) With drift fence animals, a total of 99 different individuals captured last night released the new animal at its capture site before noon. It remained partly cloudy, windy, and cool all day (low 60's). I spent the afternoon organizing - made a "step-point" habitat pole from PVC pipe; moved the computer to the lab, made a 4-sided cover for the hygrotthermograph, and washed clothes At 1600h I went to RC and set up the hygrotthermograph (Tempbot) 2m NE of station LC,13. It's situated under a buckeye in a bed of grasses and blackberry.
