RIBBLE, D.O. 1988 Journal 50 Nastings Reservation, Mononey Co., Calif. April 26 (Sat). Summary of results on WR: P. californicus : 7 captured P. truei : 11 " 4(new) P. boylii : 4 " (2new) Perognathus 4 " (2new) N. bescipes 9 " (3new) TOTAL 35 " (11 new) Today was sunny and warm (upper 70's). Karen worked on cleaning up the enclosure at Mark & Sherry's while Marco did rested up for another night of telemetry. 061700h - set resetting traps on GRID WR, finished by 1750h. From 1730 to 1815h we reset traps on RC drift fences. I added 4 more traps to the east fence, bringing the total to 16. Marco spent time setting up a monitoring system at the nest of 113F (see app A02). Marco & Karen reset MC drift fence traps #7, finishing by 1900h. 2030h - Marco went out for telemetry (see telemetry data) April 27 0340h - out on RC for telemetry. The moon is just setting, partly cloudy in west. Temps low 50's. Exciting night! (see app A02.) I checked RC drift fences around 0630h & then met up with Karen's class. Results on transect at Robertson's Finch Creek confluence: #1/2 1135 FOCAP ? kept for captivity purposes. 3 1243 RECAP - Green Powder visible in ears, feet, & mouth. Since we got these two, we picked up all traps on the transect. We started on GRID WR around 0800h & finished by 0930h - not many animals. Headed back to lab to process blood from # 1243 & take a swab vaginal smear from 1135. Summary of results on WR: P.californicus : 7 captured P.truei : 12 " (1new) P.boylii : 3 Perognathus 2 " N.bescipes 6 " (1new) TOTAL : 32 " (2new)
