RIBBLE D.O. 1988 JOURNAL 45 Hastings Natural History Reservation, Morro Bay Co., Calif April 20. (cont) This afternoon we worked on data entry & analysis. Skies remained partly cloudy all day. From 1700+1850h we reset MC grid and drift fence traps. It took a longtime because we had to clean out most of the traps and replace the bait. From 1840to 1910h we reset # RC drift fence traps. 2215h-out checking traps on MC. It's overcast, low 50s. Not much activity - we finished by 2315h & headed home April 21 0645h-out checking traps on MC. It's mostly clear (although coulds are visible in the western horizon) and cool to-mid 40s. We finished checking traps by 0915h, under clear, sunny skies: Summary of results: P. californicus P. boylii P. truei N. hiscipes Perognathus 20(Am) 3 captures 4 " (lnew) 9 " (lnew) 0 1 TOTAL 17 (2 new) 21(AM) 9 captures 12" (lnew) 10" 1 " 1 33 (lnew) #new 9 13 12 1 1 I spent the rest of the am preparing frozen specimens and Karen worked on data entry. Skies were partly cloudy all day, but it was sunny and warm most of the time. Marco arrived this afternoon for telemetry work. The three of us set out at 1000h to set all traps on grid RC and reset drift fence traps. Heavy clouds moved over and the temperature dropped 10°, but it never rained - We finished setting all traps by 1645h and proceeded to reset grid MC, finishing by 1730h (quick: with three of us) 2210h-out checking traps, F#s on MC. It's cloudy & cool. We finished MC by 2240h and headed to RC to check traps! We only recorded P. californicus. It started buzzing while checking RC. GREAT RESULTS!! (see spread) We headed home around midnight.
