It's cool (low 50s) and foggy (thick) (cont) Finished checking traps by 2340h - fog has lifted & it's slightly drizzling. April 18 0645h - out checking traps on MC. It's partly cloudy, low 40s. The clouds dropped producing fog but by 0900h it was clear & sunny. Slipam & I began weighing all animals of the drift fence Finished checking all traps by 0430h and returned to lab to stuff Sorex mortality from 16 April. Summary of results on GRID MC: P.californicus 5 captures 17 (pm) 8 capt. 18 (am) # ind. 9 P. boylii 6 capt (1 new) 12 capt (3 new) 14 D. trui 4 " (1 new) 4" (1 new) 6 N. fuscipes 1 " 2 " (1new) 2 TOTAL 160 260 31 ind. Today was partly cloudy and warm (low 60s), so things dried out somewhat. I went into town during the afternoon for groceries. I reset MC & grid & drift fence traps from 1700 to 1815h. I set the large National trap near station 7,le to try and catch the animal that is turning traps on the grid Reset RC drift fence traps from 1830 to 1900h. There is a slight chance of rain tonight and good chance tomorrow, so I put a paper towel in all drift fence traps. 2230h - out checking traps on MC. It's partly cloudy, breezy (from west) low 50s. Finished by 2330h; not much activity except for many traps near creek bed turned & picked up (eg dragon) April 19 0645h - out checking traps on MC. It's overcast & sprinkling lightly. It continued to sprinkle on and off all morning, never of this very serious. I found a P.californicus skull at station 6,17 (see spp acc.). I finished checking MC by 0940h - again alot of traps along the creek bed were turned over. Finished checking RC drift fence traps by 0930h and returned to the lab.
