Ribble D.D. 1988 Journal 42 Hasting Reservation, Monterey Co., Calif April 14th I did find a dead P. californi at station 5,17 on the ground. I caught this animal last night and upon release it was a bit torpid, but it seemed ok. Returned it to the lab and stuffed it (Cat # 844) along with 2 mortalities Karen had put in the freezer. I released the new animals at their capture sites around 1300h, in good shape. It remained cloudy and cool the remaining day, it rained hard for ~ 5-10 minutes at 1500h and again at 1600h. I reset RC drift fence and grid traps from 1715 to 1815h - I put paper towels in each trap for bedding material. Also, slowly set the 12 traps in passageways on the east drift fence. I reset MC drift fence traps from 1830 to 1900h. It rained again this evening around 2100h 2215 h - out checking traps on CC. It's cold & raining. I'll close grid traps as I check them.
