April 6 (frost) finished by 1900h and then set the MC west drift fence traps (including 5 traps on the west side) and most of the traps on the west side of the [illegible] grid to survey the FFS there. 2215h - out checking traps on GRID RC. Clear, calm, low 60's. Good results - collared ♀1225 and changed collars on ♂1183 (see app accts). # Started checking traps on MC about midnight. April 7 Didn't collar any females, but did catch most of them. Finished by 9100h 0645h - out checking traps on MC. Clear, calm, upper 60's. Looks like another hot one. No animals collared. Started checking traps on RC by 0730h. Radio-collared ♂#0130 (see app accts). Spent ~1hr getting (or trying) sigma locations on animals and then returned to the lab by 0900h to collect tissues from new Pel (#1530). Returned to RC around 1000h, released #1530 in good shape, and worked on getting radio-locations until 1230h (see app accts). Today was unbearably hot - upper 90's. Much of the vegetation (grasses, forbs) is beginning to wilt. This afternoon we returned to RC around 1700h and David set up the fiber optics when we were getting a signal from ♂#0130. While he set up the equipment, I set selected traps on GRID RC for ♀1225, [illegible] 9020, and the RC east drift fence traps for ♂1183; ♂040. At 1900h we set the MC west drift fence and selected GRID traps for FFS. 2230h tonight we will check all traps and try to follow radioed animals to get a better idea where they might be nesting. Started on GRID RC. It's clear, calm, the moon is clearly a sliver and already set, low 60's. Removed the collar
