RUBBLE, D.O. 1989 39 Hastings Reservation, Monterey Co., Calif April 3 (cont.) fence traps - I also left passageways open. I did this so that #193 (Q, lactating) will go undisturbed the next 2 nights. She gave birth recently(apparently), didn't seem to be lactating this am, and I want to use her with Gulermich to file paternal care 2145hr - out checking traps on MC. Clean, low 50's, no moon. After checking grid traps, I also check MC west drift fence traps. Finished by 2245h and headed home. April 4 0645h - out on MC checking traps - Clear, calm, upper 40's. Good results on GRID MC, finished by 0800h and proceeded to check RC west drift fence. Returned with a new PC (#1526) to collect tissues. Also collected tail tips from a P-tweei family (see spacet). Released #1526 back at its capture point by 1000h in good shape. Spent the am washing clothes... Today was hot! Low 80's. Hope this doesn't continue... From 1730 - 1815h, I reset MC drift fence traps and added 4 more traps to the traps west of the east fence, and set 10 traps between the east fence and the said - All of this is to try and catch ?? PC. - Reset only RC west fence (again) by 1840h. 2230h - out checking traps on MC. Clean, no moon, warm (upper 50's) Only check the west drift fence and surrounding traps for PC only - Finished w/in 15 min April 5 0645h - out checking traps on MC. Clear, calm, low 50's. Caught a new PC (#1527) on the east fence which returned to lab for tissues. Started checking RC drift fence (west) by 0745h, caught another new PC (#1528) an Q returned to lab by 0945h to collect tissues from new PC. Returned 60th animals to their capture sites in good condition by 1000h. Spent the rest of the morning connecting batteries on radio-collars.
