Spent most of today at Point Lobos with an old college friend John Ruggs. Returned to Hastings around 1700h and hustled up and reset L2RDRC and MC drift fences by 1830h. Skies are mostly cloudy, looks like rain possible tonight. 2105h - out checking traps on RC. It's clear, low 50s (warmer!), moon is 3/4 full, overhead, and bright! Not bad results considering conditions. Finished by 2200h - March 19 0015h - out checking traps on MC drift fences. Low clouds, drizzly (light), mid 40s. Started checking traps on RC by 0745h - good results. Finished by 0840h. Summary of results - P. californicus P. boydii N. fusciipes R. rosapinae 10am 19am #wild 5 9 10 13 21 23 5 3 8 2 1 2 total 25 34 43 wild It continues to drizzle until 0400h and skies remained partly cloudy all day (clouds particularly heavy over Chews ridge). Collected ferrets from capture RC in afternoon. Reset RC traps from 16-1730h. Set traps at stations W-2 through W-5 between grid & drift fence (trying to catch offspring of #020). Reset MC drift fences by 1800h. Set 4 Sherman's scattered west of the south end of the west drift fence to try and catch RC 13B14 (?) offspring 2130h - out checking traps on RC. Low 50s, foggy, moon (3/4 full) overhead and visible through fog - great hits. Checked all traps (except B510-8,14) and then conducted 2 dyadic encounters (see app. act). Finished by 2345h.
