ZURBZE, D.O. 1989 Journal 50 Hastings Reservation, Monterey Co., Calif March 15 Today was sunny and warm, upper 60s. Reset MC traps from 16-1700h. (cmt) I shuffled some traps around inorder to put 3 traps at 8,4; 11,4; and 11, 5. P.californicus is usually caught at these stations, but plus an All traps were filled with Pt or Pb. Reset EC drift fence traps by 1745h. March 16 0420h - put checking traps on MC. d.t's clear, no moon, 49°F. Checked traps for P.californicus only, then conducted 2 dyadic encounters (see opp acct). Started checking traps again at 0615h and it started to rain (clouds moved in quickly). hurried back to the cabin and moved my truck down; then finished checking MC traps by 0730h. Finished checking traps by 0805h on EC drift fences. Continued to rain, fairly hard. Summary of results on MC - P.californicus - 13 captures P.broylii - 15 " P.humei - 9 " Perognathus - 2 " N.huscipes - 1 " total 38 captures. it continued to rain until about 1000h - good rain! Shines cleared by afternoon. Reset all MC traps from 1530-1700h, and EC drift fence traps by 1730h. I thought it would be cloudy tonight and I would go out and conduct behavioral trials. However, it turned out to be clear and bright (moon > 1/2 full), so i'll go out at 0400h one more time. March 17 0415h - put checking traps on MC. d.t's clear, cold (clouds freezing). Checked traps only for Pc and conducted 2 dyadic encounters (see opp acct) - At 0630h went back and checked all traps. Hastings opened up unfolding Showans as I checked. Finished by 0745
