ZIBBIS, D.O. 1984 28 Hastings Reservation, Monterey Co., Calif. March 11 (cont) We released them at their capture points in good condition by 1100h. Today was sunny and warm. Everything (grasses, ferns, shrubs) has greened up and many flowers have started blooming - gorgeous! Spend the day with my parents & Mel. No traps set yesterday. March 12 Today was mostly clear and warm (upper 60's). Mel and I set and baited all traps on GRID MC and MC drift fences from 1500-1645h. Took Z too few traps and didn't set traps at station 10,4. Didn't set RC drift fence traps. 2115h - but checking traps on MC. It's clear, upper 40's. moon is ~7/8 full and fairly bright (about 10 o'clock in western sky). Not many animals this early. Finished by 2215h. March 13. Owlsh-out checking traps on MC. It's foggy and drizzling lightly. Many new animals captured this am. Finished checking traps by 0800h. Shores cleared by the time I finished checking traps. Summary of results on MC - P. californicus 2 7 8 P. longii 4 12 (new) 13 P. truei 4 5 6 Perognathus 1 2 2 N. hiscipes 0 1 1 TOTAL 10 27 (new) 30 total Spend the morning taking care of paperwork and getting organized. Today was partly cloudy to clear, low 60's, breezy at times. Spend the afternoon cleaning and mending capture mesh enclosures. Reset all MC traps from 16-1715h. Again opted to not set RC drift fences. Dark by 1830h.
