Ribble, D.O. 1989 Journal 2.1 Hashing Reservation, Monkey Island, Calif. Feb 23 came up to check traps around 0400h in order to catch animals for behavioral interactions, so no trap check tonight (cant) Feb 24 0415h - out checking traps on all. It's partly cloudy, upper mid-40s, moon is 3/4 full at about 1:30 o'clock. Checked only those traps when Californicus usually came out and left all other species in traps to record later. Began conducting dyadic encounters by 0515h. Was able to do 3 tests before it was light (see app acct). At 0645h went back and checked all traps. Finished by 0800h and proceeded to RC to check drift fence traps. Finished by 0900h and returned to lab to collect tissues from new PC from MC. Summary of results on MC-Pedisimus - 8 (new) P. boylii - 11 P. rufei - 8 P. roquatum - 1 N. fusipes - 1 Total 29 total Returned PC 1490 to his capture site and released him in good shape by 1000h. Stayed outcast all day, but again not very threatening. Reset all MC traps from 16-1700h, and RC drift fence traps by 1730h. Also be checking traps again early in the am. Feb 25 0415h - out checking traps on MC. It's mostly overcast, upper 40s, moon is < 3/4 full and visible periodically. Checked traps for PC only and then conducted 3 dyadic trials beginning at 0500h (see app acct). Went back and checked all traps at 0630h. Finished by 0900h and proceeded to check traps on RC drift fence. Returned and weighed new capture babies and spent the rest of the am transcribing tapes. -upper species
